GONE GIRL By Gillian Flynn

Right - so I have a FABULOUS book to recommend to those of you who love to read. And while I often find books that I enjoy, I haven't read such a spellbinding, page-turning, want-to-read-this-in-one-sitting kind of book for a very long time. In a nutshell, be sure to read this - it's my favorite read of the year!

"Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn begins as a fairly run-of-the-mill thriller. It's the fifth anniversary of happy couple, Nick and Amy Dunne, when she suddenly disappears without a trace. The police quickly suspect Nick, especially when Amy's friends reveal that she was secretly afraid of him, something he swears is not true. But then why did she keep secrets from him? And even go so far as to buy a gun for protection?

The book is extraordinarily crafted to show both sides of the story - Nick's and Amy's (as told by diary entries that she has written since they met). And you'll quickly discover that both Nick and Amy tell a bafflingly different, and individually disturbing, story. And then it happens - the twist. Something completely out of the blue that will turn the story (and what you think really happened) completely on its head. My jaw literally dropped open!

It is a superbly written book, and I am already tempted to read it again to try and see if I could have figured out the plot sooner. It messes with your head in a way that only truly good thrillers do - and will leave you thinking about the characters long after you have read the last page.

I can't tell you more without spoiling it. Just trust me and make sure you read it, okay?

(Before I go, are there any must-reads that YOU recommend I try? I am now on the hunt for something to match up to this one!)
