One Pan Pasta

By now you will know that while I adore to bake, cooking is not my forte (unless we are entertaining!) If Steve is away and I am the one cooking dinner each night, you will normally find me "compiling" dinner as opposed to cooking it! Ready-made chicken schnitzels, baked fish portions - anything quick and easy will find its way into my trolley and onto the table.

Until I saw this Martha Stewart recipe for One Pan Pasta where you cook the pasta AND sauce in ONE PAN in under ten minutes. You know I had to check it out on your behalf, don't you? Which is exactly what I did last night while Steve was visiting his dad in hospital - Kayla helped chop the ingredients, and I cooked it on the stove in 9 minutes. AND IT WORKED!

A Message for My Beloved Children Who Insist Their Lives Are Really Really Hard

I love this so much that I wish I had written it myself! It should be required reading at schools, or made into Comprehensions for study during English class (remember those ghastly things?) So true, and so beautifully put!

Mother's Day Ideas

Mother's Day is this Sunday (you haven't forgotten, have you?) and I have found some stunning gift ideas for you! I have pinned them all on my Pinterest board for easy browsing - so pop on over and have a look! My personal favorites have got to be Spa in a Jar and the many ideas for homemade canvasses (you can buy blank canvasses from PNA or your local art shop).

On Thin Ice...

We all know I am married to a bit of a nutcase, no surprises there. (My family firmly maintains that of COURSE Stephen is completely mad because why else would he have chosen to marry me in the first place? Apparently I should do everything I can to make my marriage work because no-one else on God's Green Earth will want me and that this is my Last Chance To Avoid Living Alone And Being Eaten By One Of My Cats. How lovely.)

Anyway, back to what I was saying before you distracted me.

Fiery Chicken Satay Skewers

I may not be much of a cook, but I absolutely ADORE watching cooking shows and reading recipe books! One of my favourite South African recipe books has to be Bitten by Sarah Graham - and breaking news is that her brand spanking new book, Smitten, is just as good!

The BEST Baked Cheesecake Ever!

My saintly sister-in-law, Amanda, made this cheesecake for us last week, and I am happy to report that it is absolutely sublime. And so easy. And uses very few ingredients!

A Chilling Read!

My older (thinner more beautiful) sister phoned me from Perth one Sunday JUST to tell me that I had to put down whatever book I was reading and get my hands on Reconstructing Amelia by Kimberly McCreight as soon as was humanely possible. Needless to say, I obediently popped down to the shops that very afternoon (okay, I sent Stephen because I was still in my pajamas) and began reading it that same night. Two nail-biting days later, I was finished - and have been thinking about the harrowing story ever since.

Best Exfoliator EVER - And It's Under R300!

I get sent so many beauty products to review, and the reason you don't see me publishing my feedback is because hardly any of them work! I have to admit to becoming overly suspicious that we are all paying stupid amounts of money for products that do very little to improve our skin.

Well, the good news is that I have found THE best exfoliator in the history of ever. And while I am very aware that we each have a unique skin type, I feel this one deserves a special mention.

An Absolute MUST-READ!

I have been battling to find a good book for ages - I have so much on my mind that if a book is not really gripping, I find myself drifting off and battling to concentrate. Well, on Friday afternoon I struck gold when browsing at my local Exclusive Books! I was seated at one of the tables, paging through a stack of novels, when the lady seated next to me asked the store manager for help in selecting books for her book club. I shamelessly eavesdropped and ended up getting some fantastic suggestions, one of which was "The Yellow Eyes of Crocodiles" by Katherine Pancol.

Surviving Men

My GFD (Glamorous Friend Debbie) sent this to me yesterday, and I thought it was absolutely HILARIOUS. Needless to say, this is a series of Survivor that I would actually WATCH!
